The River Corrib cuts through the centre of town. Salmon run up the river most of the summer. Fishermen book long in advance to get half-day appointments for a casting spot at Salmon Weir.  Hire a boat and fish for Salmon, Trout, and Pike up the River Corrib to Lough Corrib 4 miles from the Weir. If Sea Angling is more of your taste you can’t go far wrong with a small ocean like the Atlantic on your doorstep.
